All laws should be "alive". Living, breathing entities that change and adapt to the current situations. We share this world with many different creatures and yet we still try and force our will upon everything around us (maybe not everyone). We all make choices everyday(do i go to work, do i look for a job, do i tie my shoes, what should/can i eat today)and to take away freedom of choice is a bad thing. God gave us freedom of choice* (see references below) but that does not mean we can do anything we choose. All choices have consequences, whether they are good of bad consequences is yet to be seen. Is Prop 8 good or bad? actually neither. We all have to live by the resident laws and try and change the laws we do not like (forcing our will again). Do i favor Prop 8? i actually do not care if it passes or not. But we do live in a "voting majority rules" world and we also live in a freedom of choice world, i choose not to choose. You came to my conservative blog and asked for the opinion of a conservative, so here it is:
I don't believe that marriage should be made legal for gays. I do believe that they should have the right to have contracts, health-care, and all the benefits given to heterosexual couples, but I'm old-fashioned enough to believe that God meant for marriage to be between a woman and a man and that was for a reason: first to propogate the human race (which I admit has already been done) but secondly because children deserve both a mother and a father. Homosexual people can't have children between themselves, so many of them adopt children or have a surrogate to have a baby for them. I simply do not believe that having to call a man "Mommy" is the same thing as having a woman as a mommy and the same goes the other way around for a daddy.
Marriage is a sacred thing blessed by God and is not to be taken lightly. I've been married for many years and my feelings are quite strong on this matter. "Live and let live" is a fine attitude, and I applaud it, so let them do what they want to do in the privacy of their own homes, but I don't believe they should be raising children.
I also get quite angry when I see pictures of those idiots in San Francisco having gay parades, some of them naked, and simulating sex in public in front of children. Like I said, what they do is their own business and I think they should keep it that way.
Question: Why would anyone run a blog who is against blogging?
Me = a group of us who are new to blogging and have been forced into it by a teacher that wanted us to "TAP" into the Public Sphere, so here we are!!! Can you help us along? We would be ever so greatful!
Vote for change. Vote for Obama on November 4.

You asked for a Republican's opinion of Proposition 8. See my Oct. 23 blog post about it.
